We had fun learning these
Christmas Lámh Signs:
Whole school Assembly
As part of our B.S.S.E. subject we had a whole school assembly today based on the theme of 'Journeys'. The theme was interpreted in different ways by each class and all four
strands of the Learn Together Curriculum were included.
In Junior Infants we read the story of 'The Lonely Beast' by Chris Judge and learned about the journey the beast went on to find a friend. We painted pictures showing the different stages of the beast's journey to the city. We also learned a poem about
the story and performed it at the assembly.
Baby Chris
As part of our project based on the theme of 'Myself' and 'Me as a baby' David's mom and baby Chris visited our class today. We asked Cristina lots of questions about him and she showed us some of Chris’s baby things (his blanket, toys, baby bowl and spoon etc.) We sang a ‘Hello’ and a ‘Goodbye’ song
for him and gave Cristina a special book of wishes for Chris.
Me as a baby.
We had fun trying to guess who the baby in each photo is.
Aren't we cute?!
We really enjoyed this story, Baby Brains, written by Simon James.
Thanksgiving
As part of our B.S.S.E. subject the children have been learning about Thanksgiving, which will take place on 27th November.
We enjoyed reading "The Thankful Book" by Todd Parr
and we also made Thanksgiving turkeys with our buddies.
This month’s theme is ‘The Hospital’.
We have set up a role play hospital department.
The children love to take turns acting in the roles of the receptionist, patient, nurse or doctor and role play different scenarios.

Play based learning – The Farm:
The children have enjoyed building barns using large construction. They have also had fun constructing barns using the magnetic tiles. One of the children’s favourite activities was role playing being a shop keeper/ customer in a Farm Shop that we set up in class. The children played an animal matching game and drew the farm animals using chalk. They have had great fun sorting and counting the many items on the Nature table. The children are very enthusiastic about sensory play and have enjoyed playing with the lentils
and Halloween items on the tuff tray.
Diwali
As part of our B.S.S.E. subject the children are learning about Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Light. Diwali comes from the Hindu word Deepavali which means “row of lights.”
The Festival of Diwali begins on October 20th and will continue for 5 days. We are learning about some of the customs and
traditions associated with the festival. We coloured in
Rangoli patterns and made Diyas out of clay.
