The First Term
As it has been a big transition for the children coming back to school. We are teaching them how to be safe in school. Last week they were practising their vampire coughs and learning a song about washing your hands thoroughly.
Our Maths Songs that we learned in the first week
We are learning new counting songs Zero Zero Superhero www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RfIKqkvHTY and Herman the Worm in particular are their favourite. These are helping children revise counting forwards and backwards 1-10.
Phonics
Every week the children will be revising 2 or 3 digraphs per week ( two letters that make the one sound) In the last two weeks they have revised ch, sh, th, ou, and ai. To make it more interesting the children have being learning tongue twisters that have these digraphs in them. They have had so much fun learning them. Here are examples of one or two examples.
My Many Coloured Days by Dr Seuss
I read the book 'My Many Coloured Days' by Dr Seuss. It's a lovely book that connects emotions and colours. The children spoke about how what colour they were feeling that day. Here is some of the fabulous work up on the wall.
Autumn
The children are learning all about Autumn. They discussed the different coloured leaves they see. They also spoke about what 'hibernation' and 'migration' is. Here are some lovely photo's of the class gathering leaves for an art project they were doing.
Autumn Blowing leaves Art

The children made lovely leaf blowing art in class. They used the leaves that they collected in the school grounds.

Zero Zero Superhero
The children were learning all about the value of Zero. We learned a poem about how when you add or take away zero it doesn't make a difference. The answer still remains the same. We thought it would be fun to create Zero Zero Superheroes. We added them to our town that we are creating in our classroom. The children are so happy with the results.
Alien's and Monsters love Underpants

The kids were reading Monsters and Aliens love Underpants. They designed there own Aliens and Monsters using paper plates, paint and pastels. They spent so long making them and are so proud of them. They created a lovely display using them.
Our Buddies
We miss our buddies so much !!! We exchanged cards with our buddies to say welcome back. It's very tough on them not having the connection with their buddies but myself and Margret are being as creative as we can to ensure the connection is kept up. Look at their happy faces when they recieved them.
Maths Week

The children are really enjoying Maths week. Here are some of the activities that they have done so far.
